How and when was the French Manicure created?
Jeff Pink, the founder of Orly Company came up with the French Manicure idea back in 1975. When some of the movies and TV directors wanted a versatile nail style to compliment a Hollywood star’s entire wardrobe, Jeff started having the stylists paint the nails with a white tip and a sheer color over the entire nail and the celebrities loved it. When he took this natural nail look to the runways of Paris the designers and models fell in love with this sophisticated nail design. And in honor of his friends in Paris, he decided to name his style creation French Manicure. The original French Manicure has become the ultimate chic. From day job to dance floor, hip to haute couture, the French Manicure is the ultimate accessory.

Now that the weather is getting hot my face feels very dry. What should I do?
I know how your skin feels; sometimes you are even afraid to laugh, because you think your face will crack. There are many ways to help your skin. First, you need to keep your body hydrated by drinking at least four glasses of water a day. Second, use a good hydrating toner and moisturizer after your cleanser and use a hydrating mask twice a week. Third, keep a spray bottle full of water around and spray your face often when you are in the sun for a few hours. And last but not least remember to put sunscreen on your face everyday because the sun’s UVA and UVB rays not only cause spots and skin cancer, but they can be very drying as well and the sunscreen gives your skin more protection.

Can I use my day cream at night?
No. When you are winding down at the end of the day, your skin is most receptive to absorbing nourishing ingredients and repairing itself while you sleep. You can use a night cream that has vitamins and hydrating nourishments. I am sure your day cream line (if you like how it feels) makes a night cream as well. Make sure you massage the cream on your skin in a circular motion and for a minimum of one minute.

Is powder necessary to set my makeup? And won’t it emphasize wrinkles around my eyes?
The powder is a must especially if you have combination or oily skin. It binds the foundation to the skin so your makeup last longer and stays even. Use a loose powder with a very soft fluffy brush, and always tap the brush to remove excess powder before applying it on.  Avoid heavy powder near the eye area it can make the skin look older and dryer; you can also blend the powder around your eye area by taping it with your index finger.
