Have you ever had one of those moments where you stand in front of your packed closet and still cannot find anything to wear? It is amazing how many of us are attached to some pieces of clothing that will never be worn again. Now with spring in the air, it is time to get to that closet and start an inventory, and see what you have that can be honestly termed "wearable."
It is time to get rid of anything that is not wearable or has not been worn for one reason or another. In addition, try not to save useless clothes for sentimental value; do not hang onto them because you “might” wear them. The general rule is that anything that has not seen service for a year or more should be cleared away.
Your must-go list should include items like the marked-down suit you bought in haste and have hated since because it makes you look fat. Or the navy blue or black shirt that did so much for you but is slowly turning purple. Would you wear it now? If the answer is no, then ditch it. When you get rid of your unwearable clothes, you’ll find your closet may not be quite bare, but its content will be reduced considerably. Now you will have a clear picture of your wearable clothes. Moreover, you can begin to plan new additions.
Take time, sit down with a pencil and paper, and analyze your life. What activities fill your days? Are you busy with kids and their daily activities, which require more outfits that are casual? Do you hold a full or part-time job? Do you enjoy the nightclubs or dinner dates with your husband or partner? Make a list of all the things you have done in the past few weeks, this list will guide you in choosing clothes that suits your lifestyle.
When choosing new clothes you must be aware of the new looks and trends. Some trends last a while and some fade away in a season. My advice is to buy a more modified interpretation that will stay in style longer than a season. Be sure to choose a version that suits you and your needs.
Fashion comes and goes but certain styles remain popular. They are called classics, such as the shirtwaist dress, Chanel suit, polo coat, sweaters and skirts. Also, use accessories to make a basic dress change, and change again so that it never looks the same.
