I
hope you all had a great Norooz, and I hope your celebration of Norooz
and what it represent goes on throughout the Spring. For me, it
represents the rebirth of nature and a rebirth of a new me. I always
take an inventory of my actions, and which ones I would like to change
so that I can become a better person. I also like to use the concept of
rebirth of nature to regenerate a new, vibrant, glowing complexion, and
a healthier body.
It is the time to go through your cosmetics, and
skincare. Toss out old makeup and replace them with more refreshing
colors. Spring may bring makeup trends that mirror the soft pastels and
gentle light and sweet innocence of a new season, but this spring a new
trend that is sexy and classy is emerging as well. It is a more defined
makeup style with mostly neutral shades. Check your skin to see what it
needs most for spring- maybe more hydration- and then get moisturizers
according to your skin's need. Sunscreen is for all seasons and you
should use it everyday. Make it a habit when you use your cleanser;
massage it in circular motion for a minute or more. Do the same routine
when you apply your moisturizer. Because years of research have proven
that regular facial massage can lead to smoother, firmer, and more
radiant skin by minimizing sagging and fine lines and releasing toxins
and impurities, normalizing skin’s moisture balance and releasing
tension.
In addition, our mood changes in spring and summer, so
you might want to try a fragrance that is floral and romantic, or
citrus and more energizing. Walking through perfume counters at
department stores or a perfumery is like walking through flower field.
Because every perfume has three notes, there is a scent of a flower
such as gardenia, jasmine, poppy seed, sunflower, and so forth in each
note.
Finally, for celebrating you, I will share a conversation I
had last week with a dear friend of mine, who is a makeup artist for
fashion shows and just returned from Europe. He said that he noticed
many French and Italian women in their forties and fifties are
comfortable with their sexuality; their confidence and experience makes
them very attractive. So celebrate your age, your health, your beauty,
and your womanhood.
