The Importance of Scents

Many designers have used different scents to complement the beauty of a woman. Among these designers was Monsieur Dior who created a beautiful floral perfume in 1947 called Miss Dior. He named it after a collection which he created to compliment a woman he had in mind who he called Miss Dior.  What kind of a woman was Miss Dior? What shoes or clothes would she wear?  He wanted to give her a classic elegant look with an ageless beauty. Then he designed his famous rectangular crisp shaped bag with a chain handle and sharp pointed shoes with slim heels. The perfume matched Miss Dior looks and personality.

I love the connection between different scents and our moods, our personalities and our confidence levels. Some feel energetic and lifted up by citrus scents while others get the same feeling from cinnamon, cedar wood, rose, and sandal wood.

White flowers such as jasmine and freesia or tube rose will ignite the romantic feeling.

Mint and rosemary affect concentration and focus because they affect the way brain cells communicate.

Peppermint In some scent studies have shown that people felt less fatigue and less tired after smelling it.

Vanilla is among one of the comforting scents that reminds you of being loved and    safe.

Lavender which is used for aroma therapy has shown to lower stress and calm nerves.

Rose has shown to reduce anxiety.

Jasmine, lily of the valley, and hyacinth make one feel more positive and optimistic.

The stimulating scent of apples, oranges or other zesty fruits makes one feel upbeat.

The grapefruit scent signals the body to eat less and the lemon scent curbs craving.

Take the time to discover your favorite scent and realize what comfort, what enjoyment, what zest it brings.
