Beauty Q&A Beauty and Fashion ... Tips and Tricks

mehrzee@yahoo.comLately my skin has been flakey.  It’s like I am shedding skin. I can’t even wear makeup because it makes my skin look unattractive. I tried different cleansers and moisturizers. Some helped for a little while, but my skin starts getting flakey again. Can you help?

You sound very frustrated.  Let’s see if we can help to get your skin back to its normal appearance. I did some research about skin flakiness and I need to find out first if you have been using retinol products on your skin. If you have, stop using them because the Retin -A or some of the retinol products could cause skin flakiness.  If you are not using retinol products, it’s best to go to a dermatologist or your doctor to find out if there are hidden health issues that are causing this problem. Meanwhile, I came across an interesting and surprising solution by a dermatologist (Dr. Elissa Lunder) who says that sometimes the cause for skin flakiness could be a high level of yeast.  To reduce the yeast level, she suggests using dandruff shampoo on your face instead of your regular cleanser.

My perfume for the past year has been “Delicious” and I love it. But it’s been for a few weeks that I feel my perfume feels a little heavy on me. Why is that?

Your perfume, Delicious by Gayle Hayman, is a very lovely and sweet perfume. However, it is a little strong and warm for summer. Usually for summer time it is preferable for the perfume to be light and to have a sheer scent.  Try a perfume with a blend of light fresh fruit and floral with smooth warm notes of wood or musk. This will be the lighter version of your favorite perfume. Check out a few scents at a department store or a perfume boutique. The best way to try different perfumes is to spray a little and walk through it. This way you are able to smell the first and second note of a fragrance. Let me know if you find a new favorite or if you want me to give you some more suggestions.
